Welcome to JK Send Education Advice

A little about me…

I am a local Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) adviser.

Having worked in education and within local authorities for over 15 years, I have seen a need for guidance and help in finding the best educational solutions for every child and young person. This has led me to offer professional advice to parents, carers of children with SEND and young people who are having difficulties getting the education they deserve.

I am a neurodiverse parent with 2 adult children who both have SEND. I understand from all sides the challenges and frustrations families experience while dealing with the statutory processes of finding and integrating a child with unique needs and abilities into a school which meets these. I went to school in the 70s and early 80s when these things weren’t understood as they are now. I know just how frustrating it can be when you are not being listened to, and it’s isolating when you think it is just you who’s different. That isolation is now something that should be banished from school life.

My drive, passion to make a difference, and faith have helped me empathise with children, young people, and families to better advocate for them.

My professional background equips me with the skills, experience and understanding to work with parents, carers, and professionals.

If you are experiencing any issues with your child’s education or you’re a young person having difficulties in your education setting, please feel free to contact me to discuss how I can help.

Victory for Parents!

Victory for Parents!

I today attended a mediation meeting with parents. This meeting resulted from the Local Authority (LA) issuing a no to assess decision. The Children and Families Act (CAFA) 2014 36(8) gives a two-part legal test to determine if a child qualifies for an Education...

Where your journey could start

Every week, I will discuss a different topic that I regularly discuss with parents and share what I advise them to do. This will lead us on the journey that every parent of a child or young person takes. This week, I look at where that journey can start. Sometimes,...

What my customers say

Don’t take my word for it – have a look at what my previous customers have said.

I have used Jeni on a few occasions before. Both to help with an EHCP and support within school when issues had arisen. Jeni holds the utmost professionalism whilst also making you feel relaxed; she’s extremely empowering with just how supportive and informative she is. She will always go above and beyond; if she can help you, she will do everything in her power to. If it wasn’t for Jeni I don’t think we would be having the support that we have now been given in the education setting. To say that she is worth her weight in gold is truly an understatement.

The support I have had from Jeni is beyond help I have had from anyone else. She not only wants to support the parent but wants the best for the child. Couldnt have done it with out her.

I cannot recommend this service highly enough. Jeni has been helping us for 5 years now and she has gone above and beyond to assist us in any way possible. The difference between Jeni and most other SEND services is that she genuinely cares to a different level. Her knowledge amd expertise are impressive and even on the (very rare) occasion she encounters something new she leaves no stone unturned to find the solution. She has sat in meetings with schools with me, she has helped me with forms, pointed me in the direction of services I didn’t even know existed, got my child a funded 1:1 in a kids club placement so he could access the community and I could work, helped me with emails, phone calls, provided emotional support, regularly checked in on us during lockdown and much much more. I don’t know what we would have done without her, but I do know it would have been much more difficult and lonely! It’s great to know that there is someone in my corner who already has all the knowledge it would take me ages to find out, making it all quicker and easier to get my child the right support.

As a parent, the process to seek SEND education support, advice and information is so overwhelming and complex.

Jenni has been instrumental in helping us to ask the right questions to understand our all of daughter’s development needs, highlighting support and services that are available and advising how the school should support our daughter during her education.

Before our daughter started school, we submitted a number of EHC Need Assessment requests, which were declined. With Jeni’s experience, knowledge and expertise we appealed the decision and the LA has now agreed to conduct a EHC Needs Assessment which will be pivotal in understanding our daughters needs to create a plan to support her throughout her schooling.

We wouldn’t have achieve this outcome without Jeni’s help as she supported us as parents, to support our daughter. We highly recommend Jeni as she is fantastic at what she does, always professional, full of knowledge and genuinely cares. From the bottom of our hearts THANK YOU!
